Add-ons: extras customers add to a service

Offer optional extras with a service, like a deep conditioning with a silk press, each with its own price and time. Customers choose them before they pick a time.

An add-on is an optional extra a customer adds to one service when they book it: a deep conditioning with a silk press, a beard trim with a haircut, an extra half hour with a massage. It happens in the same appointment, done by the same person, so the booking's price and length both grow. An add-on is never booked on its own.

Create an add-on

Open Store → Add-ons and choose Add add-on. Give it:

  • a name, like Deep conditioning, and if you like a one-line description customers see under it;
  • a price, like $15, or switch on Free;
  • the time it adds: No extra time, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 45 minutes, 1 hour, or Other for any number of minutes up to 8 hours;
  • the services it goes with, ticked under Add to services.

The preview beside the form shows the card customers tick on your booking page. Save add-on stays grey until the name, the price (or Free) and the time are in, and the message for anything missing sits under that field. Switch off Show on booking page to save it without offering it yet.

Choose a service's add-ons and their order

Open a service in Store → Services and go to its Add-ons step, right after Price. Pick from your add-ons with Choose from your add-ons, or make a new one there with Create a new one. Drag them, or use the arrows, to set the order customers see. Removing one from a service keeps it in your add-ons for your other services. A service can offer up to 20.

The preview shows how many add-ons the service has, and what it comes to with all of them: a $45 silk press with three add-ons might come to $70 and 2 h 15 min.

What customers see

On your booking page, a service with add-ons says so under its name, for example "3 add-ons, such as Deep conditioning". The price shown is still the service's own. After a customer chooses the service, and before they pick a time, they see Add anything? with each add-on, its price and the time it adds. They tick what they want, or continue without any. The times they are offered next already fit the longer visit.

Your Secretary offers a service's add-ons once, with the price, in the chat, on WhatsApp and your other channels, and on phone calls. Customers can add or remove one by name at any time before they pay.

Prices, sales and booking fees

  • The service and its add-ons are priced separately. A sale or a negotiated price is about the service only; add-ons keep their own price.
  • A booking fee set as a percentage is worked out on the total, add-ons included.
  • Bookings already made keep what they booked. Changing or deleting an add-on later does not change them, and moving a booking keeps its full length, since the same person does the whole visit.

Hide or delete an add-on

In Store → Add-ons, click an add-on's Shown label, or use its menu, to hide it. Customers stop seeing it, and it stays on its services for when you show it again. Delete takes it off every service for good.

Products and free services cannot take add-ons. You can also ask your Secretary, for example: "Add a deep conditioning to the silk press, $15, 20 minutes."
